As an esthetician, helping clients achieve healthy skin inspired me to better understand the science behind skincare. I was determined to understand why, as a skincare professional, I was adding more and more products to my clients' skincare routines, yet I wasn't getting the results I hoped for.
So I went back to school and earned a chemistry certification in cosmetic science. It was there I learned that we were going about skincare the wrong way. We need to start where results begin- the skin barrier. This is the layer that helps protect us from premature aging. Yet we were treating it as unnecessary, sometimes actually damaging it without realizing.
